Classic Western typically focuses on the solitary figure of the cowboy. Women are relegated to the sidelines and Native Americans are often presented as threatening.
SPACE WESTERN
Space Western is a subgenre of science fiction that uses the themes and tropes of Westerns within science-fiction stories. Subtle influences may include exploration of new, lawless frontiers, while more overt influences may feature literal cowboys in outer space who use rayguns and ride robotic horses.
MODERN WESTERN
Modern Western takes the themes, settings, and plot/character archetypes of the traditional, classical Western genre and transplants them into a contemporary setting. Modern Westerns will try and contrast with old Westerns, demonstrating the changes that have occurred since the classic era.
